DECEMBER 7, 2021 ~ JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE CHRONOLOGICALLY

Updated: Jan 3, 2022

DECEMBER 7, 2021 READINGS... Ephesian 3:1-5:14

It has always been God’s plan that both Jew and Gentile believe in Jesus as Messiah. And in believing there would be an equality in the riches for both in Christ Jesus. God has no favorite children…He loves all His children equally and perfectly. In God there is no variation of love…His love is perfect. God may choose to use us in a particular way, but that does not give us reason to boast…but to be humbled that God would use us at all. Paul prayed earnestly that we might know the power and presence of God in our lives. It is in this revealed power of God that we move to the place where we begin to understand, “how wide, how long, how high, and how deep is the love of God.” No matter how much we think we know and understand God…or how much we think He can do, Paul reminds us that, “He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think”.

Paul reminds us that Christ is the Head of the church…and that there should be unity in Christ. He gives us all the gifts He chooses for us to have, but these are given for the benefit of all…never for selfish purposes. He places the responsibility to equip the people of God to " the apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, and evangelists”. This is done that we all would mature in the faith…speak the truth in love…and grow to be more and more like Jesus. We are called to live like children of the light, not children of the darkness. Darkness and light cannot coexist…we are either on or the other. We are to be distinctly different from the lost people in this world. Jesus is that Light of the world…we should reflect His light in the places God puts us. We are called not only to reflect His light, but to live in His light. We do not dwell in the darkness any longer. In a real way our address has been changed from “dark street” to “bright light boulevard”. We are to live our lives to please the Lord…not this dark world.

Please share your thoughts from today’s reading.
