DECEMBER 20, 2023 ~ THEMATIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE

DECEMBER 20 READING…ISAIAH 29-31 & REVELATION 11

The Lord speaks through Isaiah to warn Jerusalem about making an alliance with Egypt. The leadership of Judah felt that if they made an alliance with Egypt that they would find protection from Babylon. The Lord is offended by this, as He made it clear that He would defend His people. Isaiah tries to warn Judah that there is no protection that can be given by Egypt. Somehow, like Judah, we live in delusion, believing that if we make an alliance with others, even unbelievers and apostate religious groups, we will have security. The only security we have is found in the Lord Jesus Christ. We are warned by Paul and John in the New Testament to never join ourselves together with unbelievers or those who have rejected the genuine message of the Gospel. There is not safety in numbers…there is only safety in the Lord. In Revelation 11, the Lord sets aside only two witnesses. The whole world, and the power of the world’s system is against these two witnesses, and they try to kill them. God’s hand of protection is upon them, and no one can touch them until God says so. The same is true for us…we do not need this world, its power, or it’s protection…we need the Lord! The seventh trumpet is blown, and the end of this meaningless and powerless world’s system comes to its end. The world and its system have no power to stand against the Lord…never has, never will.
