AUGUST 11, 2021 ~ JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE CHRONOLOGICALLY

Updated: Jan 3, 2022

AUGUST 11 READINGS...Jeremiah 49:1-33, 2 Kings 24:5-7, 2 Chronicles 36:6-8,

2 Kings 24:8-9, 2 Chronicles 36:9 & Jeremiah 22:24-23:32

Jeremiah is given messages for the nations around Judah. He once again calls them to account for their ungodliness. To Ammon he reminds them that the land they are on has been given to Israel…and that once again they will possess the land. To Edom he tells them that as the innocent has suffered at their treatment by this ungodly nation, that surely the guilty will suffer the judgment of God. Our nation needs to hear this message today…too many feel that they can live in ungodliness with impunity. Jeremiah warns Damascus that they will be consumed with fear. Every decision they make and everything they do will come from fear…therefore they will make no sound and good decisions. That really sounds like what is happening in our world. People are being motivated by fear…and not only motivated by it, but manipulated by it. What is sad is that they are not even aware of it. They shout that it is the preaches of God’s word that are creating fear in people…when in reality it is the god of this age who uses fear to control people…and it is always been this way.

Jehoakim’s reign ends abruptly as he is carried off to Babylon in captivity, and he is replaced by his wicked son, Jehoiachin. But Jehoiachin would only reign for three months and ten days. Jeremiah speaks words of prophecy when he speaks of the promise of God to replace all these evil and godless kings with a king who would rule with the wisdom of God, a king who will do what is right throughout the land. His Name shall be called “The Lord Is Our Righteousness” (YHWH Tsidqenu). In Him that day all of Israel and all of Judah will be saved. Jeremiah closes out today’s writing with a promise that God will punish and judge the false prophets. There have always been false prophets, and they still exist today. They are wicked by their very nature…they do not know or speak the truth…for they are like their father the devil. Don’t listen to them, for they are deceitful and they make everything up. God has not spoken to them! Here is our instruction concerning these false prophets among us, even today. Jeremiah 23:28-29, “The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; And he who has My word, let him speak My word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat?” says the Lord. “Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?”

Share your thoughts from today’s readings. Know the truth, receive the truth…reject that which is false and comes from the mouths of false prophets and teachers. Keep your eyes on The Lord Our Righteousness!
